From the Land of Genesis is a profound collection of short stories centered on veterans whose lives have been permanently affected by the wars of Afghanistan and Iraq. Based on research and interviews that O’Shea conducted himself, these interwoven stories offer insight to the struggles that veterans face upon returning home. However, the stories also feature glimpses of hope amidst the despairing truths that make for beautiful stories veterans can relate to, and for civilian readers to experience vicariously the extremes of the human condition.

Praise for FROM THE LAND OF GENESIS

This book was not only seamless but also enjoyable to read. It is very evident through the character development and details that the author took the time (in researching and interviewing) to try to experience for himself what veterans experience as they return to civilian life. When every short story finished, I found myself wondering more about those characters because the author did such a masterful job painting the settings and characters—it was as if I could watch it in my mind as I read! Despite the format of the short stories, the author wove clear themes throughout that tied them all together beautifully. My dad is a veteran but I think veteran or civilian alike would benefit from the new perspectives these short stories bring.
