On occasion, we have the need to bring on staff short-term and long-term. Those positions are in the editorial, marketing, production, sales, PR, social media, and acquisitions arenas. We welcome interns from undergraduate and graduate programs who are hungry to learn the ropes too! The entire staff is volunteer-based and many have been with us for 5+ years because the work we do is integral in shaping the future of literature. When feasible, we can compensate on a per-book basis, or a percentage of the press’s share of royalties. At the very minimum, when you work with Unsolicited Press, you are treated like family and are given book credit on the copyright page, copies of the books you worked on, discounts on conference attendances (or our publisher will sneak you in the back door), opportunities to host virtual literary readings, invites to after-event drinks, extensive publishing training, letters of recommendation, and, perhaps the most important, honesty about an industry often hidden behind gates.

We’re seeking an experienced book sales representative to join our team. Unsolicited Press is entirely volunteer-run, but we’re open to a commission-based arrangement given the nature of this role.
The ideal candidate will have existing relationships with accounts. Our books are a hit in indie bookstores; we’ve simply grown and need an extra hand to pitch to the trade, including retailers, academics, and libraries.

Unsolicited Press is looking for editors with expertise in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. You’ll handle line edits, copy edits, and work within deadlines to help bring our books to life.
Experience is required (translation: no need for professional editing credentials, but we do need evidence that you can edit books). We welcome candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds—diverse perspectives are a big plus!

We are always on the look out for folks who can read submissions.

Unsolicited Press is looking for a creative, book-loving Social Media Manager to join our team and drive engagement across our social platforms. The ideal candidate has a passion for literature, an eye for design, and a knack for storytelling that brings books and authors to life online.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute social media strategies to promote new releases, events, and author achievements.
Create engaging content (text, image, and video) for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok.
Manage the social media calendar, ensuring consistent posting that aligns with our publishing schedule and marketing campaigns.
Engage with followers: respond to comments, messages, and share community content to build a dedicated reader base.
Collaborate with authors to develop personalized social media plans that match their brand and reach their audience.
Monitor trends in social media and publishing to keep our content relevant and exciting.
Track and analyze performance metrics to understand what resonates and adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience in social media management, preferably in publishing or a related field.
Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends.
Excellent writing and editing skills with an eye for detail and a tone suited to our audience.
Ability to create visually appealing graphics and familiarity with design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
A love for books and the publishing world—bonus points if you know the ins and outs of indie publishing!
This is a remote position with flexible hours, but availability for team check-ins and content planning meetings is needed. If you’re passionate about connecting readers with great books and know how to make a feed shine, we’d love to hear from you!
