HAUNTING AND LYRICAL, RAKI KOPERNIK’S NO ONE’S LEAVING EXPLORES LOVE, LOSS, AND REBIRTH THROUGH A QUEER ODYSSEY

Portland, OR—Unsolicited Press is thrilled to announce the release of No One’s Leaving, a mesmerizing new novel by Raki Kopernik, on February 4, 2025. This immersive, atmospheric journey follows a young woman traveling through Europe in the late nineties, shadowed by the ghost of her ex-girlfriend after learning of her suicide. As she navigates grief, heartbreak, and new connections, she encounters an eclectic cast of characters—a tarot reader, a gay farmer, an expat trans woman, and a French lesbian with a dreamy pit bull—each playing a part in her transformation.

Curated to a Gen X soundtrack featuring icons like Jane’s Addiction, The Cranberries, and PJ Harvey, No One’s Leaving weaves between past and present, delving into the complexities of queer love, memory, and healing. This novel is both a fever dream of grief and a celebration of the messy, beautiful act of moving forward.

Early praise for No One’s Leaving has been effusive:

“Gritty and honest as a Patti Smith song, No One’s Leaving is a story about travel, about the love of strangers, about letting go and starting again.”
—Alissa Hattman, author of Sift

“Confessional, raw, and poetic, this is a novel that dazzles the reader from a writer exercising her full power.”
—Darci Schummer, author of Six Months in the Midwest

No One’s Leaving is a fever dream of grief, an eloquent song of trauma and rebirth.”
—Brittany Ackerman, author of The Perpetual Motion Machine and The Brittanys

“Kopernik’s crisp and clear storytelling is charmed and generous, showing us how to trust ourselves, how to move through blue, and how to surrender to the rhythm of the living even when haunted by the dead.”
—Elisabeth Workman, author of Ultramegaprairieland and Endlessness Is No Desolation
